چکیده

Epidemiological studies have indicated an association between inuenza A virus infections during fetal life and neuropsychiatric diseases. To study the potential for inuenza A virus infections to cause nervous system dysfunctions, we describe a mouse model using intranasal instillation of the mouse neuroadapted inuenza A/WSN/33 strain in pregnant mice. Viral RNA and nucleoproteinwere detected in fetal brains and the viral RNApersisted for at least 90 days of postnatal life. We have, thus, obtained evidence for transplacental passage of inuenza virus in mice and the persistence of viral components in the brains of these animals into young adulthood. Journal of NeuroVirology (2002) 8, 353–357.

Persistence of the inuenza A/WSN/33 virus RNA at midbrain levels of immunodefective mice

Strains of inuenza A virus are known to infect speciŽc subpopulations of neurons in the mouse brain. Here we report that all segments of the genome of the neurotropic inuenza A virus, strain WSN/33, can persist in the brains of immunodefective transporter associated with Antigen Processing 1 (TAP1) mutant mice. Ten to 17 months after injection of virus into the olfactory bulbs, viral RNA enco...

The impact of COVID-19 during pregnancy on fetal brain development

The development of the brain as the most complex structure of the human body is a long process that begins in the third week of pregnancy and continues until adulthood and even until the end of life (1). Human brain myelination begins one to two months before birth in the visual system and eventually lasts until the age of two in other sensory systems and then the motor systems (4). Processes a...

PCR detection of thymidine kinase gen of latent herpes simplex Virus type 1 in mice trigeminal ganglia

Herpes simplex virus type 1 establishes a latent infection in the peripheral nervous system following primary infection. During latent infection, virus genome exhibit limited transcription, with the HSV LATs consistently detected in latency infected ganaglia. Following ocular infection viral latency develops in the trigeminal ganglia. In this study PCR has been used for detection of HSV-1 nuc...

Investigation of Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Class I and II Alleles and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Genotypes in Patients Infected with HCV

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major public health problem with more than 130-180 million people infected worldwide. Several studies in different populations have reported the association of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genotypes, and HCV viral load, and genotypes. The aim of this study was to investigate a possible association between HLA class I and II alleles in HCV-infected patients and heal...

O-2: Prospective Evaluation of the ThreatRelated to the Use of Seminal Fractions fromHepatitis C Virus-Infected Men in Assisted ReproductiveTechniques

Background: The risk of hepatitis C virus (HCV) transmission during assisted reproductive techniques (ARTs) is still disputed and no report concerning its prospective evaluation is available. The aim of this 4-year follow-up multicentre study that enrolled 86 HCV-serodiscordant couples was to determine whether a sperm-processing method was able to reduce levels of HCV in semen and the risk of H...
